Monday 13 November 2017 An entertaining evening of music and laughter last night at the club with West London Rhythm Kings. Favourites included Black and Blue (Fats Waller 1929 and Louis Armstrong 1955) with Iain Mcauley on vocals; Girl of my Dreams (Gene Austin 1928, Dizzy Gillespie 1955, Erroll Garner 1959, Charlie Mingus 1959), and 2:19 Blues (Louis Armstrong 1940). Chas McDevitt who is a regular guest of the band is recovering from knee surgery and sent his best wishes to everyone at the club. We hope he makes a speedy recovery and joins us again next time. Monday 12 December 2016 There was a full house for the jazz club’s Christmas celebration with West London Rhythm Kings providing an evening of entertainment for all. Favourite included Duke Ellington’s Creole Love Call and Cole Porter’s Ace in the Hole.
We were treated to a special musical interlude with Chas McDevitt (vocals and guitar), Bryan Clarke (who runs the jazz club, on washboard) and John Habes on harmonica. Chas also got everyone singing his 1957 hit Freight Train.
Monday 8 February 2016 A welcome return to the Griffin Park Jazz Club for John Keen’s West London Rhythm Kings, back for the sixth year running by popular demand. Plenty of their usual New Orleans and Trad classics with some familiar tunes added to join in with, clap along to and for the brave ones, even a dance!
