The BackYard Boys

Monday 10 September 2018 It’s been a while since Colin Kingwell (winner of a tin of biscuits in this evening’s raffle) played at Griffin Park Jazz Club so we were in for a special evening with his formation of The BackYard Boys. Favourites included Running Wild (from Some Like It Hot), recorded by Original Memphis Five in 1925; Breeze, The Synco Jazz Band, 1919; a Dixieland tune Bright Star Blues and Louisiana Fairytale, Fats Waller 1935.

West London Rhythm Kings

Monday 13 November 2017 An entertaining evening of music and laughter last night at the club with West London Rhythm Kings. Favourites included Black and Blue (Fats Waller 1929 and Louis Armstrong 1955) with Iain Mcauley on vocals; Girl of my Dreams (Gene Austin 1928, Dizzy Gillespie 1955, Erroll Garner 1959, Charlie Mingus 1959), and 2:19 Blues (Louis Armstrong 1940). Chas McDevitt who is a regular guest of the band is recovering from knee surgery and sent his best wishes to everyone at the club. We hope he makes a speedy recovery and joins us again next time.
